It’s three behaviors. And three blind spots, which we can quickly illuminate, to dispense with our own myths. When the resistance is removed, the natural reversal of these behaviors creates new insights and habits which take care of themselves, on auto-pilot, but with full conscientiousness and agency. I’ve made these short and sweet for you during your busy day.
Not acting on your 80/20 core program and the joy in doing the work:
Lack of leadership driving the bus with relentless purpose and an unshakeable identity infused in everything we do, inside and outside the “office”.
Focus naturally optimizes our time and scarce attention, allowing us to lose interest in diffusing tasks, which are addictions.
We turn down the volume on that nagging little voice that subtly reminds us to give, up all along the way.
Rather than lack of perseverance mindset, the culprit is, ironically, procrastination to invest now and enjoy compounding results sooner.
We sure do persevere, “kicking the can down the road”, with the ultimate patience and tolerance of what’s not working. We can be remarkably resilient in our “failure” to realize our aim, and we take 3 years to implement and profit from what could be done in 9 months, such as the creation of a whole, viable Human being in the womb.
This equation is an objective and economical one, not emotional, because results are on a time-basis, i.e. “per month” returns, weighed against fixed and variable costs.
The habitual false problems of “factors out of our control”, and “lack of resources”.
We believe those problems prevent customers from buying freely, at scale, and that makes us victims.
We are distracted and resistant to facing the real problems our business is actually having, where there is great opportunity in solving them for ourselves and compounding the solutions to others facing the same things.
When tackled, these shifts in attitude and behavior change you. You enjoy the emergence of more consistent flow states, in which the right people, places, and things appear to support the new and repeatable belief system. A conscious approach to daily life and work and communication allows you to be hyper-effective, but most importantly to enjoy yourself in the process, rather than dreams of the destination.
